Amami Sunset Trolling Experience|Sailing Fishing Boat|Maze Amami
The most beautiful moment is the time spent searching for fish.
As the lure trails behind the boat,
we move slowly across the evening sea of Amami.
The sound of the wind.
The sound of the water.
The color of the sky changing in the distance.
Sunset is the time when fish begin to move.
It is also the time when the sea becomes quiet.
This is not a sightseeing cruise.
It is a trolling fishing experience aboard a registered fishing boat.
About This Experience
This experience is a trolling fishing trip operated as a registered fishing boat activity.
We slowly move across the sunset sea of Amami
while trailing a lure behind the boat.
There is no need to hurry.
Fish move with the tide, the light, and the time of day.
During the experience, guests can relax on deck,
feel the wind, and watch the sea.
If a fish strikes,
you may join in and experience the moment of bringing it in.
How to Spend the Time
Trolling is a fishing style of waiting and reading the sea.
While the lure is in the water,
you can simply relax on deck.
Watch the ocean.
Watch the sky.
Feel the wind.
In this quiet time,
you can feel the depth of Amami’s sea.
And when the rod bends,
the stillness turns into excitement.
About the Boat|ZAN
This experience is operated aboard ZAN, a motor sailer.
ZAN is a sailing yacht powered by the wind,
and also registered as a fishing boat.
With the engine sound reduced,
you can feel the waves, the wind, and the quiet movement of the sea.
It is a very different experience from an ordinary fishing boat.
A yacht that sails with the wind.
A fishing boat that searches for fish.
This combination is extremely rare in Japan.

The Choice of ZAN|A Sailing Fishing Boat Powered by Wind
43 years of windsurfing. 20 years of SUP. Diving instructor certifications from three organizations. From commercial fishing to working at Yamaha’s marine division. I’ve spent my life on the water.
And this is the boat I chose in Amami — ZAN.
A Boat Chosen After Losing to the Sea
The old marine world was all about power.
Bigger engines. Faster boats. More catch.
Always more.
But I’ve seen what comes after that.
It’s not just climate change.
Mass consumption. High power. Overfishing.
We did this to the ocean.
So Now, We Sail
ZAN is a sailing fishing boat.
If there’s wind, we use it.
If not, we use the engine.
We don’t fight the ocean.
It’s slower.
Sometimes inconvenient.
But it feels right.
Fishing, Play, and the Future
This is not about catching as many fish as possible.
We read the tide.
Watch the wind.
Let the lure drift.
If we catch something, great.
If not, the time on the sea still matters.
That space — that quiet —
that’s what’s missing from modern ocean life.
Pay It Forward
This is not a big revolution.
It’s not flashy.
It’s just a small attempt
to make sure the next generation can still say,
“Yeah… the ocean is still good.”
ZAN is my way of doing that.
A simple, quiet challenge
for a better future.
